All, I would appreciate any prayers for my mother in law-Doris. She is in the hospital right now. She suffered a mini-stroke on this past week and is back in the hospital again.

Give Away

Mrs. Linda over at Faithfulness Farms has an awesome-tastic give-away. I truly hope I win, however, I will be delighted for whomever wins this great prize. Including some bake ware by Welcome Home Brands.

As we all know fall is the time of bake sales and Welcome Home Brands has paper bake war!!!! How cool is that? No dishes to worry about. I'll have to try some for our treat days at work. The I won't have to worry about bringing home dirty pans. I think these would also be great for Christmas food gifts.

Hop on over to see Mrs. Linda. and sign up! Plus, she is sharing some great recipes to boot.

Heat

There is no letting up from this heat. I realize it probably not this hot for my grandparents; however I cannot imagine being out in a field all day like Grandpa. Or in the garden like Grandma. But I think the rewards would be great. Your own produce to put up, leaving the doors and windows open for a cross breeze. Up at dawn, down at dusk. God's way I believe.

My dad told wonderful stories when we were in Indiana. Stories of the farm. Little old ladies saying "Is that you Charlie?" while at church. 6generations of my family attending this church.

I buy old issues of The Farmer's Wife magazine. I wonder if Ethel read this publication. I vaguely remember some publications around. Probably Co-Op publications. And a religious one. A lot of times Grandma was crocheting or something while Grandpa was reading or watching the news.

Counting down the days!!

This Sunday I'll be celebrating  family at this church. North Scott Christian Church. Favorite church as well as Mt Zion Methodist. My two family churches.

North Scott is a beautiful church and I can almost smell the inside as I sit here. The creaking of the old, well, cared for floors and pews, The basement seems so much smaller to me as an adult however; many memories of VBS, Sunday school and after church coffee and cake. As well as after funerals. All a part of life. So many church basements have wept tears of r joy and sadness. These walls hold them close.

Family Reunion

I am attending my family reunion this Sunday. I will be flying home to Indiana, meeting up with my father who is flying up from Florida. My step-mother has decided to stay home this trip. I'll stay with my mom and stpe-dad having a separate family get together on Saturday.

This reunion is my father's side of the family. Ethel's husband's family. My grandpa. Here are my grandparents, Ethel and Ivor in their younger days. Grandpa was a farmer and drove school bus.

I can't remember if this was before they were married or after. The photo below is their wedding picture. My dad often says I looked sad as a child. I think he was afraid I was depressed due to my parents divorcing. But looking at this photo I think it is a look melancholy as I see it in my grandmothers photo here.

And here they are, off to church. The same church I'll be attending this Sunday before our family reunion. North Scott Christian Church. I'll upload photos of the church soon!

Oh, and I have a new read, "The Daniel Fast" I hope to finish it by the time I fly home. I'll keep you posted!!
